I'm sure there's so much that I just don't know how to use. One thing that would be a more helpful add would be a better integration with recording and paying out Housing Allowances for our Ministers. It just requires a little extra work for me. My company was using spreadsheets to collate, track, monitor all HR data. There were years of errors! When we started using Bambo HR, we noticed that the time spent to complete the hiring process was immediately halved!. Performance Manaagement became less frustrating resulting in more appraisal reviews being completed by deadline. In addition, to these positive experience, we noted that any challenges we expeirenced were met with an almost same day response. Bamboo HR's helping heroes made us feel like we were definitely going to be taken care of and no matter was too small. Finally due to the amount of features we now had access to, a nuber of siloed approaches became redundant resulting in Bamboo HR becoming our central hub for communication. The platform is very clear, and very thorough for everything HR related. Any time I need to reach out to Customer Support with a question, they respond promptly and make sure that we reach the answer. The one item that I struggle with in the platform is ensuring Third Party Access for the Tax Types in Payroll. That seems to be an ongoing issue with getting it correct and implemented with some of the states. I have been working through it with BambooHR though, and we will get there! BambooHR is a centralized place for all of my HRIS, benefits, payroll, HCM, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee engagement, performance management needs and then some. I love how it all interacts/integrates and is extremely intuitive. Implementation was long, but very well structured which made things smooth as we went through the process. Any time I have or have had a question, they are super on the ball with responding and being of assistance. BambooHR is a tool that I use on a daily basis for multiple reasons and it always delivers! We've been using BambooHR for a couple of years now, and I can't say enough good things about it. Their customer service is truly exemplary—responsive, helpful, and always going the extra mile. The platform itself is extremely user-friendly and even fun to use, which is rare in HR software!

Multi-State Payroll Tax Setup: Navigating payroll tax configurations across multiple states can be complex, and we’ve found that BambooHR’s current setup doesn’t always make this process as seamless as we’d like. More intuitive tools or clearer guidance in this area would be a huge help.
California Time Clock Compliance: California has very specific labor laws, especially around time tracking and breaks. Ensuring compliance through BambooHR’s time clock features has required extra manual oversight. We’d love to see more built-in support for CA-specific rules to reduce the administrative burden. As an HR manager, I wear a lot of hats, and BambooHR really helps me stay on top of everything. It’s easy to navigate, even for people who aren’t super tech-savvy, which means fewer questions coming my way for simple things like PTO balances or updating personal info. I also love how smooth the onboarding process is—new hires get set up quickly, and it makes a good first impression. It’s taken a lot of the manual work off my plate, and that’s made a big difference. I use it all day, every day. here are a few areas where BambooHR could improve. First, the reporting tools can be a bit frustrating when I want to dig deeper or build custom reports. They cover the basics, but more flexibility would go a long way. Second, there’s no built-in way to track mileage or employee expenses, so I have to manage reimbursements outside the system, which adds extra steps.
Also, I wish there had been more transparency around the payroll add-on. I was surprised to find out that something as routine as having a state tax notice reviewed came with an additional charge. BambooHR has remained true to a lot of it's claims of providing a clean interface and intuitive system with resources to help empower employee files, payroll, documents etc. with ease. The system is is one of the most affordable I've seen and is easy to navigate even if you are not familiar with HRIS/HCM systems. And by far the payroll feature is one of the best I've used to date.
I appreciate that while most things feel self explanatory in the way the system is designed, that even if I can't find what I'm looking for the use of the Chat and calling a rep really ensures that my answers are swiftly answered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We recently upgraded to the Pro package and I've been having doubts if it's worth it. The performance management piece still feels limited even with the 1:1; we desire better ways to communicate and celebrate staff and the surveys feel too restricted not allowing us to be able to get to the types of questions we really want to ask. Bamboo is plug and play. It has everything you need, when you need it. If you encounter a snag, the Bamboo support team is incredibly fast and friendly. I have never had customer support from ANY business like I do with Bamboo. Implementation was a breeze and supported the entire way by a BambooHR rep. We use Bamboo all day every workday. This is coming from a company that was utilizing manual processes and paper. Integrating Bamboo into our way of life was the best decision we could have made as a growing company. I found BambooHR while searching for a solution to bring all our HR tasks and documents into one place. Our small organization was previously relying on multiple spreadsheets, which made tasks unnecessarily time-consuming. We were also transitioning from being 100% in-person to a fully remote workforce spread across the U.S., so we needed a reliable, user-friendly platform that could handle everything from employee data storage to hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and recruiting.
During my research, BambooHR stood out as the clear choice. Not only did it meet all our requirements, but it also aligned perfectly with our organizational culture. The team at BambooHR never pressured us to sign up; instead, they focused on understanding our needs and showing how their product could help.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that I can't imagine managing HR without BambooHR. It has freed up so much of my time, allowing me to focus on more strategic aspects like HR strategy, organizational culture, and employee development—areas that were previously competing for my attention. Our employees love how easy it is to use, especially the self-service features that let them manage their personal information with ease.
We've since added Payroll and recently upgraded to the Pro Package, which includes Total Rewards, Employee Community, and Performance Management. The reporting feature has been a dream, making it easy to generate reports on turnover, eNPS results, time off, and other crucial payroll data.
Customer service at BambooHR is top-notch! I always feel heard and helped in the best way and never feel like I’m bothering anyone. Everyone I’ve interacted with has been quick to respond and incredibly helpful.
Looking ahead, I’m confident that BambooHR will continue to be an integral part of our HR operations, making even the smallest tasks easier. I appreciate how BambooHR is always open to feedback and consistently rolls out updates and improvements. Every time I receive a product update email, I’m excited because I know it means another fabulous enhancement is on the way—one that not only makes my job easier but also positively impacts the entire organization! "Dislike" feels like too strong of a word. There’s nothing about BambooHR that I truly dislike. However, there are a few features that can be a bit frustrating, though they're far from being deal-breakers. For instance, the setup process for signature documents and some of the text fields within the job posting feature could be more intuitive. That said, I’m confident these areas will improve over time. So, while these quirks can be annoying, I don’t hate them, and I’ve learned to work with them. It’s still a vast improvement over our previous setup, where we juggled countless spreadsheets and documents—uploading, downloading, and then uploading again!
Now that we’ve been on the Pro Plan for a while, I do wish BambooHR offered more of an à la carte option. It’s all or nothing, which is unfortunate given the significant price increase. For example, while the Performance Tool is fantastic, our team only uses the Reviews feature consistently, and that’s just once a year. The Goals and 1:1s tools are hit or miss. As a flexible organization, we don’t mandate their use, and some teams prefer other documentation methods. We also never use Employee Community. This was already a question mark when we upgraded, and while I like the idea of sending messages with acknowledgments, we’ve found alternative solutions that fit better with our current setup (like Google Chat). If I had the choice, I’d keep only the Performance Tool and drop Employee Community. Unfortunately, we’re now leaning toward downgrading and going back to Google Docs and Sheets for annual reviews—not ideal, but a reflection of how the value hasn’t matched the cost for us.
