When it works, it is pretty good at managing students from surfing to websites when restricting the sites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Customer service is not very helpful. Students do not consistently show up on the monitor when they are logged in. There is a lag and students are able to jump fromone page to another without the teacher seeing it. Lanschool also does not show window tabs. If a student has 5 tabs in a window, it only shows the one they are on. Lanschool also won't show when students are using computer products like the calculator. When math teachers are giving tests and students are not supposed to use calculator, the teacher needs to see the students using those products. New students will sometimes show up as expected, while others will never load on lanschool. The product is only available on more recent software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Most helpful is monitoring student use of technology, sending students private messages, and overall control over computers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The lag time between what is on the student screen and what shows up in LanSchool is the least helpful. That lag time is a critical flaw that impedes my ability to keep students on task.
The program has frozen a few times, not allowing me to dismiss a class or start a new one. It seems to be happening more lately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
its a good program and all but please review what I dislike about the program Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I hate that they sell/use your info without people's permission I'm thinking of possibly suing them for doing that Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like many aspects of this software - being able to privately message a student when you can see that they are not on the website or assignment they are supposed to be on is a favorite, but there are many features that I found beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I never learned how to update all of the remote computers from my main computer when updates were issued to the software, so that required time and effort duplicating the installs to every student computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to monitor student computers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lanschool Air give a lot less control to the teacher than the past version I had. I can no longer control a student device, or look up internet history. I do not like the "upgrade" to Lanschool Air at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LanSchool has been an absolute game-changer in my classroom. During virtual education and the pandemic, they became used to gaming or otherwise tuning out during class, then Googling all the answers once it came time to complete their assignments. This behavior carried over into the classroom this semester, and I have had to resort to LanSchool to manage it. Using LanSchool, I can block specific websites and applications during class, check in on students to ensure they are on task, and blank student screens when they need to focus on the front of the classroom. LanSchool is one of the few programs that I cannot really think of a downside to using. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I liked the ease of logging on to see kids versus the program we have now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LanSchool always went down. It lagged often. We checked to see if it was our system but it was not. It was the program Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it a good feature that I can accurately keep an eye on all of the things that are being projected on the screens of the students in my class and block them as I see fit. It makes sure that everyone is trying their best and putting their full attention to the work at hand. If they are having trouble on their computer screen, I am able to remotely connect to their computer and control it to fix the problem that they are having. Another good feature is that I can screen share my screen to the screens of my students. By doing so, they can better see and understand the topic I am teaching. I dislike how hard it is to get used to the software. It is not in the slightest "user friendly". Unfortunately, I'm not much of a tech geek so it took a lot of time to get used to and I had to ask some of my collogues how are also using it to give me a detailed explanation of LanSchool which only took away from the time I could be using it. Another problem is that remotely connecting to a computer takes a lot of time and it's responding time is the slowest I have ever seen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
