We used Google Analytics only before connecting with Triple Whale, and layering spend into our calculations made our optimization processes inefficient. Triple Whale has been a big help in pulling all data sources together for real-time updates in one place. Another benefit we've felt is getting visibility into new customer CPA and ROAS metrics, which can be especially valuable with brands that have subscriptions that can inflate in-platform CPA metrics.
We use it as another data source to compare against what Facebook and Google Analytics say (considering the different attribution windows all three platforms use) to make better-informed optimization decisions. I think the main error that can come from using Triple Whale is thinking it solves the attribution challenge entirely. Another issue we've found is that Triple Whale doesn't pass their Pixel's data back to Facebook to improve the algorithm's optimization decisions; it's simply a dashboard for media buyers to have some additional context and steer spend accordingly. It provides a single source for tons of advanced ecommerce store insights that you simple cannot get from any other platform. I have not used anything quite like it. Google Analytics doesn't come close to providing as much valuable data that is actually actionable in most cases. While I mentioned it provides advanced metrics, they are just that, and some of them are so advanced it's a little daunting and a lot to chew on, for example the cohorts reporting and lifetime value calculations give a ton of data but not necessarily any insights for short term decision making. The great news is Triple Whale has tons and tons of features that, in theory, would be very helpful across marketing, finance, and operations disciplines in an organization like ours (DTC ecomm).
Triple Whale has solutions for MTA (multi-touch attribution) & media measurement, financial forecasting, creative learning & optimization, and pseudo-CRM functions like LTV, cohort analysis, and sales cycle insights.

At times I feel like Triple Whale is a Ferrari when a Fiat will do just fine.
As a marketer, MTA scares me in that it spits out a blind (sometimes seemingly contextless and arbitrary) number for media performance that you are expected to take action on.
In reality, most DTC/ ecomm businesses <$100MM in annual revenue don't need anywhere near the complexity in measurement that Triple Whale can provide, and I've often found that it leads to asking more questions and confusion than it does provide clear answers and create alignment.
We use a combination of PPS (post-purchase survey), GA last-click, and platform data to make all media allocation decisions, and do so to a high degree of accuracy without the need for costly software.
The thought of Triple Whale is great, and the product itself really is great. Where I think it falls short, in a practical sense, is that it's a little too "techy" for widespread adoption from junior to senior levels across the org. It provides a more sophisticated dashboard of my business including the Shopify store, all our marketing channels, gateway expenses, and even custom COGS inputs if you so choose to do so. TripleWhale also serves as a powerful tool in the ever-growing attribution problem. How do you know which investments contributed to a customer conversion. How can you tell if you're paying to hit the same customer multiple times? Well, TripleWhale can help you with that and even show you individual consumer journeys across your marketing channels so you can get a real sense of the path they took to end up purchasing your product. I can real time see what my marketing teams are spending minute to minute and know if things are going well or not by 9am instead of finding out the next day after the fact. Everything platform including our Amazon shop is tracked spend vs income with profit margins built in. nothing, its perfect. My only suggestion is related to the rare days that Meta or even TW has a glitch and sales vs spend are not accurate. Its happened 4x in the last year and a half which isnt horrible with half being a meta ad issue but TW should be red flagging abnormal ROA metrics and it should notify me and their IT team to figure out if its a Meta issue or a TW issue that day. TripleWhale has been super helpful in measuring the performance of our Facebook and Google campaigns. We have this app for each of our e-commerce clients and has helped us identify ads that bring the most revenue and attribute our sales to the right channels. My least favorite thing has been the latest update they did to the platform because it has been bugging our account. However, other things in the update, like the "Total Impact Attribution" model have been insanely helpful to attribute our sales to the right channels and have a better understanding of the impact of our marketing efforts. Their service is exactly as advertised, they report 99% of the stats i cannot track post ios14 such as purchases and ROAS. They have not beat around the bush with their offer. What they claim their service does is exactly what it does, unlike many of their competitors. Their dashboard and layout is super clean and easy to use and impressively you're able to setup RULES based on the data in triplewhale. I would love it if it looked exactly like the FB Ads Manager on the ads section of triplewhale and was a larger view with breakdowns and such giving it the utlimate pre-ios14 experience. That would make it so much better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
